Media Release Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how the BAND73 (the Club) collects, uses, and protects personal information. This information belongs to members and visitors. By participating in the Club, therefore, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
- General Principle of Consent The Club will not use a member’s media for public purposes without their express consent. This includes names, call signs, and photographs. However, by becoming a member, you agree to our policies. Consequently, we will generally assume your consent unless you inform us otherwise.
- Scope of Media and Content This policy applies to all forms of media. For example, this includes:
- Photographs and videos taken at Club events, meetings, or contests.
- Furthermore, it covers member names and FCC call signs. It also includes digital voice-specific identifiers (e.g., DMR ID, D-Star G-Callsign).
- Lastly, this also includes written testimonials, stories, or quotes from members.
3. Consent for Adult Members (18 and Over) Members aged 18 and older provide a general media release by default when they join BAND73. Specifically, this consent allows the Club to use their media for promotional purposes. Media includes their name, call sign, and images. Such as newsletters, the Club website, or social media posts.
4. Consent for Minor Members (Under 18) In contrast, we require a signed Parental/Guardian Consent Form for all members under age 18. This form therefore explicitly asks for permission to use a minor’s media. A parent or guardian also has the right to grant or deny this consent at any time. Ultimately, the Club will strictly adhere to the parent’s or guardian’s wishes as stated on the form.
Publicly Available Information Certain information is public record. For instance, this includes an Amateur Radio operator’s FCC call sign and some digital voice identifiers (like a DMR ID). Consequently, network lookup tools may show this data. The Club may therefore use this publicly available information during normal club activities. This means we do not require a separate media release.
Revocation of Consent Any member can revoke their media release consent at any time. This includes a parent/guardian of a minor member. If you wish to withdraw your consent, you must notify a General Officer in writing. This applies to your name, call sign, or images. Immediately upon receiving this notice, the Club will cease using your media for any new public materials. However, the Club is not obligated to remove media from previously published materials, such as archived newsletters or social media posts.
Unauthorized Media Use No member may use another member’s media for public purposes. This requires the explicit consent of that individual or their parent/guardian. Ultimately, all members are expected to respect the privacy of their fellow club members as outlined in this policy.
Contact Information Therefore, please contact a General Officer of the BAND73 if you have any questions about this policy. Also contact us if you want to revoke your consent for media use.
