These rules are established to guide BAND73 in its mission and to ensure a positive and productive environment for all members.
Article I: Mission and Purpose
The mission of BAND73 is to serve as a community for Amateur Radio enthusiasts. We are dedicated to fostering a strong community through organized contests, engaging events, and hobby education, with a special focus on multi-mode digital voice operations, including D-Star, Fusion, and DMR. As operators, we are committed to fulfilling our fundamental responsibilities by supporting community involvement and providing reliable emergency communications when needed.
Article II: Member Conduct
To uphold our mission, all members are expected to maintain the highest standards of conduct.
Section 1. Respect and Courtesy.
All members must treat one another with respect and courtesy at all times. Harassment, insults, or any form of discriminatory language will not be tolerated.
Section 2. Legal Operation.
All Amateur Radio operations, including those on digital voice networks like D-Star, Fusion, and DMR, must be conducted in strict compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations, including those set forth by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Section 3. Representation.
Members are prohibited from representing themselves as official spokespersons for BAND73 unless expressly authorized to do so by a Lifetime Officer.
Article III: Communication and Engagement
Effective and respectful communication is essential to our club’s success.
Section 1. Designated Platforms.
Official Club business and communications will be conducted exclusively on platforms designated by the Officers. This may include a specific online forum, a chat application, digital voice networks, or an email list.
Section 2. Communication Etiquette.
When using Club platforms, members must adhere to proper etiquette, including: A. Keeping discussions on-topic where appropriate. B. Avoiding the use of profanity or offensive language. C. Not sharing personal or private information about other members without their explicit consent.
Article IV: Emergency Communications and Community Service
As part of our mission, the Club is committed to public service and emergency preparedness.
Section 1. Emergency Management.
BAND73 recognizes its critical role in providing emergency communication services. The Club may organize and participate in emergency preparedness drills and real-world emergency communication nets, with a focus on utilizing digital voice modes for enhanced coordination and clarity.
Section 2. Coordination.
We will endeavor to cooperate with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies, as well as other amateur radio organizations, to provide reliable communication support during emergencies.
Section 3. Emergency Activation.
An official emergency activation of the Club’s communication net may be declared by the Lifetime CEO or a designated General Officer. When an activation is in effect, all members are encouraged to monitor designated frequencies and follow the instructions of the net control station.
Article V: Club Activities and Events
Our vibrant community is built through shared activities and events.
Section 1. Participation.
Members are encouraged to actively participate in Club activities, events, and on-air nets, particularly those centered on D-Star, Fusion, and DMR. These will be announced in advance on the designated communication platforms.
Section 2. Member-Led Initiatives.
Members are welcome to propose and organize their own events or projects, provided they receive prior approval from a General Officer in consultation with the Lifetime Officers to ensure alignment with the Club’s purpose.
Section 3. Use of Club Resources.
Any resources or assets owned by the Club, if any, may only be used by members with the express permission of the Treasurer and a Lifetime Officer.
Article VI: Rule Enforcement
To ensure fairness and consistency, violations of these rules will be addressed promptly.
Section 1. Rule Violations.
Any member found to be in violation of these Club Rules may face disciplinary action, up to and including termination of membership as outlined in Article III, Section 3 of the Club Bylaws.
Section 2. Reporting Violations.
Members who witness a rule violation should report it to a General Officer, who will then bring the matter to the attention of the Lifetime Officers for review and resolution.
These Club Rules are supplemental to the BAND73 Bylaws and are in effect upon their publication.
